On the basis some of you might find it useful, here's the latest index of UK parent blogs and bloggers. There aren't too many places to find out about these sorts of blogs, but I think Mummy Blogging is becoming increasingly influential in the UK - for example, Disney recently flew seven UK parent bloggers out to its theme park to score lots of publicity.
Also, this is a very good opportunity for me to show off that I've learned to make tables in HTML. Feel free to step back from your computers in awe:
The Tots10 top British Parent Blogs and Bloggers:
What Do The Scores Mean?
100 blogs were included in this month's index. Each blog was assigned a score from 1 (bottom ranked) to 100 (top ranked) in seven categories:
1. Technorati Authority: number of blogs linking to this blog in the last six months
2. Technorati Inlinks: number of inbound links, excluding self-referring hits
3. Yahoo Inlinks: number of inbound links in last six months (excl self-referring hits)
4. Google Blogsearch Hits: number of posts/links/weblinks in Google
5. Google Blogsearch Hits Recent: number of links from the last 30 days
6. Readers: number of subscribers based on Google Reader
7. HowSociable: the blogger's visibility outside the blog, measuring activity on sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
This meant a blog scoring the highest score in each of these categories would achieve a maximum score of 700 points. The lowest possible score was 7. They aren't perfect metrics but we thought that combining measurements from Google, Technorati and Yahoo ensures an accurate reflection of a blog's influence, while the inclusion of HowSociable clearly showed how the top bloggers use social media to boost their blog's profile
There are a couple of blogs on the index that haven't been updated in a few months, but still scored highly because of high numbers of residual links. We'd expect these links to reduce over time, and the blogs will fall down the index.
I do welcome suggestions of how to improve the Index, as well as suggestions of new blogs to include in the next index. The criteria for inclusion are simple: the blog must be by/about parents, be written by a British parent or a parent in the UK, and you need to score higher than someone already in the index.

Well done on your HTML table and yes, I did step back in awe.
I always try to see who's following who as you never know what kind of blog or stories you may come across.
So, thanks for the info.

Many thanks for the mention, and for listing some great blogs.

Loving the HTML table! :) Thanks for the mention x

I know it's pathetic but I think that HTML table might be my greatest achievement this year.
Er, apart from the old parenting lark, obviously. That's going great guns, too.

I'm not sure if I've done this already, but if not I'd like my blog (http://allthatcomeswithit.com) to be included for consideration in the list.
Thanks.

Hi Sally - Could you include ParentDish in your next index? Though it's written by 5 bloggers rather than a single person, so not sure if that counts. Anyway, have a look at http://www.ParentDish.co.uk I give good Agony Aunt.

how does one get considered for inclusion? It's just that at least one blogger on that list has written only one blog in the past year so I wondered what the criteria were. Totally impartially you understand! No interest at all, personally...

Hi Milla,
You just ask - I've already got you on the list for inclusion next time.
I think on this list only one blog hasn't been updated in ages, which is Posh Mum - and as I've explained to others, I suspect she'll drop off next time but scores relatively highly because there are so many links to the site.
